Another good friend has graduated, moved away and gotten her first job out of college (what a good feeling!). Luckily she lives only a couple hours away, so we will be able to see each other every so often. Regardless, I wrote a "goodbye" for her. It's something I decided to do when very dear friends move away, so I don't forget their impact on my life.
Whitney.
Has it been two years or a bit less? Regardless, it didn’t take long for your welcoming spirit, cheerful attitude, beauty, humility, and depth of character to impact me. I have watched you overcome your personal agenda and frustrations to love and serve difficult people. In so doing, you have inspired the same diligence and self-sacrifice in my own life. You helped me start running again, and showed up to make sure I was doing it! You gave me the privilege of mentoring and coaching you, and actually valued my thoughts and input! This honor and respect from you meets a deep need I have to feel valued and needed.
Your passion for purity in male/female relationships is a precious jewel that few women hold onto. It is inspiration to know this still exists in the world. My image of you is like a beacon, shining grace and inspiring the best in those around you. People who don’t like you (I am shocked there are any, but such is life) will be for this reason alone – your light shines too brightly and they would rather live in darkness.
