Some days we just need outfits to be easy. Shorts. Tank. Tee. Today we're at home, and I'm tired from the weekend, and ready for a week that is a bit less busy. So we're dressing easy today.
You can't really tell in the photo, but Jax's socks are a soft limey green, and so is the collar of his tee, and the little stars printed across the chest of his tee. The color is too close to white to show up well in these photos, without being photographed separately, as I mentioned, today is easy day.
Another thing that is easy - wearing this outfit and nursing in it. Bypass the following paragraph if you don't want to read about nursing and clothes for nursing. TMI alert ;) Every nursing mom has to figure out a wardrobe that works for her. I know some moms that swear by nursing tanks, others that wear normal tank tops layered, pulling one tank up and one down to nurse. The traditional method, is to pull your nursing bra down (it un-clips just for that purpose), and your shirt up across your chest. I found this to be super annoying, as the fabric lumped up across my chest just kept falling down, obstructing my view of the baby, and getting into his mouth. Once I had been nursing a few weeks, a went to the thrift store to buy what would work for me: v-neck tops in stretchy fabric that can be easily pulled down. I don't pull any layers up; I pull them all down. I wanted nursing to be easy, not a fight with my clothing every time. Also, a confession; I only wear a nursing bra in public. At home, I wear a supportive tank top and a blouse over it. I'm lucky enough to be small-chested (even while nursing), and not leak all over the place, so this system works for me. I found that in Texas summer, the less layers, the more comfy I would be. And skin that gets that much friction all day long, tends to stay a tad tender, and the bras rub me a lot more than a cotton tank does. So there you go, how I'm making my clothes work as a nursing mama.
