Our church supports a husband and wife team who work with our military, providing individual chaplain services, workshops, and more. They recently have been working at a local military base, providing Christian spiritual care for soldiers in the burn unit. It's a burn unit known all over the U.S. for the military, where the soldiers with the worst trauma are sent. They pray with the soldiers and their families, providing encouragement and hope. When they speak at our church, they always remind us of this: There's very few who have offered to give up their lives for us: Jesus Christ, and our soldiers.
So belatedly, to all my family and friends who have offered to give up your life for me. Thank you. And to the families of those who have, there are not enough words to thank you.
Today, this week, this month, we are celebrating our freedom. The cost to purchase it for us was, and is, high.
