Last night when I was putting Jax to bed, he kept pressing his lips together and making an "mmmmm" sound. I looked him in the eyes and said slowly, "mah mah." He looked at me intently, then pressed his lips together, separated them, pressed them together again, made an "mmmm" sound. I repeated slowly, "mah mah." We continued this for several minutes, with him grabbing my lips periodically, looking closely at how I moved my mouth. He continued repeating "mmm" and finally a bit of "ah" that was more like a breath than a spoken sound. After several minutes, he mimicked, "muh muh"....
This morning as I've been working around the house and on my computer, he has said "muh muh muh muh" many times. Each time I hear it, I walk over to him, and kneel down close, repeating the sounds back to him. I know for now, he's just mimicking. But that's where it begins, and it is the sweetest sound in the world.
