Jax plus Indy

34

This is D'arcy and Julian's bedroom.  But while Jax and I were visiting Indiana, it was our home away from home.  I should have taken more photos in here, to show how cute the room was.  D'arcy is eight, and the bed to the right in the photo is hers.  There are custom-ordered cute paintings above her bed that have her name and images of sweet things she loves.  On the other side of the room is Julian's bed.  His coverlet is a simple grey and turquoise, so it coordinates with D'arcy's, but looks boyish.  Above his bed is custom painted artwork of lego men in an abstract graphic style.  You can tell immediately the room is shared by a boy and girl, but it still fits together.

This inquisitive Jax face peeking through the pack 'n play mesh is how I would be greeted any time of day or night that he awoke.

This is a red Schoenhut piano that Melissa and Stephen have for their son Schroeder.  He is partially named after the Charlie Brown character (thus, the piano).  The piano is a high-end toy, mechanical (sounds like a xylophone), not battery-operated, and the perfect height for a small child to sit and play.

Jax was still learning to sit up by himself, so every time I got far enough away from him to photograph him playing it, he would plunk over and bonk his head on the wood floor and sob.  Which brought an immediate end to my Kodak moment.  In this photo, I'm standing directly behind him to support him with my legs should he fall.  Somehow, he still managed to collapse directly between my feet right after I snapped this image.  Better images of him and I at the piano were taken by Melissa, here.

This photo was technically taken in Kentucky, the morning we arrived there.  We drove late at night, arrived around midnight, and crashed.  Melissa and I shared a double bed, with Jax sleeping in a pack n play next to us.  In the morning, I had nursed Jax, and was trying to get dressed without waking Melissa.  Jax kindly woke her up instead, and she sweetly exclaimed, "What a nice way to wake up!"  This photo was snapped within seconds of that moment.  I hope Melissa will forgive me for publishing her morning face.
