My niece and nephew stayed the night last night while their parents when to see a late showing of the last Twilight movie. This morning, Isabel wanted to be in our outfit photos.  She's actually not a bad match for us.  We still look coordinated.  If I could tie a citron ribbon around her waist, she'd be perfect.  Aidan opted out.

I had to post this because it shows Jax's most recent common facial expression.  He discovers new expressions or movements, then repeats them constantly for a couple weeks to make sure he's got them down. Then he moves on to something new.  Sucking his lower lip in like this is the current phase.

He often says, "mmmmmm" while he does it. That's his newest sound.  He even uses it appropriately when we feed him!

His newest favorite food is kale chips I made from some farmer's market kale.  Benjamin tried them and said they taste like salted grass.  Or leaves.  Which would be why Jax likes them.  He'll eat grass and leaves and mud anytime you give him a chance.  I'm sure he was wondering why I wasn't freaking out and fishing the pieces out of his mouth.  It was like a game.  She's letting me eat leaves?  What?!  Quick, swallow as many as you can before she catches on!

Then Aidan changed his mind and opted in.  I can see the red and bright blue in his shirt pulled in by Jax's leg warmers.  And of course, all three of those beautiful smiles!  Missing teeth, toothless, and perfect teeth.  Love these kids.

The fur ball in Aidan's arm is a doll.  I wish you could see her face because it's a bit comical.  It's a baby doll with a very baby-doll ish face (open mouth with a bottle hole I think).  The hair is from an American Girl doll that my sister re-wigged with different hair.  She used the American Girl wig to turn this baby doll in a full-of-hair girl doll.  They named her Donna after our dear Panamanian friend.  The baby is wearing some orange fabric scraps which apparently are to support the Dynamo soccer team in Houston, which my other sister has season tickets.  But it's just fabric scraps. And way too much hair for a baby doll.  So she kind of looks like a caveman.  Or John the Baptist.  My mom and I laughed until we cried when we saw her this morning.  The kids like her and think she's cute and funny all at the same time.  Poor sweet baby Donna.
