These photos were taken last summer. I just now discovered them. It was really hard for me to eliminate some of them, because in the subtle changes of his expressions, I can see his thoughts. A photographer I admire and follow online said when he wants to take his kids' portraits, he gives them something to do. (Because otherwise they won't hold still for you). This was a perfect example, and these are my favorite kind of portraits because they tell more about who Jax is. JC Penny is never going to capture the child's soul or favorite things - only candid lifestyle photography will. I want to take these kind of photos for my clients too - the ones that show the soul.
