First off, the quality of my wrapping job in these photos is practically shameful! I started out with a double hammock (name of a certain way to wrap), and ended up with a hot mess. He was mostly secure, but as you can see from the awesome last photo, it wasn't tight enough around his upper body. Luckily he's a big kid, and it was at least tight enough to keep him from falling out completely when he arched backward! This is one of my reasons why I prefer mei tais or buckle carriers to wraps!
I lovely local friend owns this wrap, and wanted to temporarily trade it out to try something new. I loaned her one of my wraps for a couple weeks, and she loaned me this one. I'm hardly ever wearing my son right now, due to his weight on my body during pregnancy, and he just doesn't need or want to be worn much anymore. I had to bribe him with chocolate to take these photos ;-) (the wrapped piece of Heath bar is in his hands / mouth during these photos ha!).
But I like trying out carriers, especially brands, I haven't used before, and I had never worn a Kokadi.
The tapers on the Kokadi wraps tend to be a little longer / deeper than most other brands, which gives you the feel of a bit more length as you wrap, and a smaller knot at the end.
From what I've heard, Kokadi wraps also tend to be pretty similar in texture, feel, and wrapping qualities. With a brand like Didymos, there are huge, huge differences in texture, weight, stretch, feel, and wrapping qualities, among different wraps, even among different colors of the same weave. Kokadis are much more similar, from the few I've touched, and also what I've heard.
This one is pure cotton, of medium to thin thickness, and silky buttery soft. So, so soft. The other Kokadi wraps I have touched have also been extremely soft.
It has a bit of diagonal stretch to it that surprised me, since I didn't feel it until I had it wrapped. It is by no means a stretchy wrap such as a Moby or Wrapsody Hybrid, but it has a bit of give or bounce to it, diagonally in the weave.
It is a gorgeous turquoise color with silvery grey stars on one side, and the reverse pattern on the other side. The print isn't really my style, as I gravitate toward more classic, timeless patterns But it's cute and many people love the Kokadi star pattern, which comes in several different colors.
Also, I am about 27 weeks pregnant in these photos. Still in the cute and pregnant stage, not the huge and pregnant stage!
