Didymos is one of the largest makers of baby wraps, and has been making them for decades now.
The Indio pattern is one of their first few weave patterns, and it has stood the test of time.
Mermaid is a relatively new release that is just a few years old. It is a tri-weave Indio, meaning it is woven with three threads instead of two. This gives it the unique "morse code" appearance, which is a much different look than the classic Indio weave. Mermaid is a linen / cotton blend, and the tri-weave makes it especially supportive, with a slightly thicker feeling in-hand than a two-thread linen/cotton Indio.
I found it supportive for my toddler, and not too hot to wear in Texas. This is a size 4 wrap. I kind of made up the carry in the first image, and it didn't work well - the shoulder passes kept slipping toward my throat. I ended up taking my toddler down and re-doing the carry as a ruck with a knotless finish.
Everything I've heard about Mermaid is that it is crazy soft and buttery feeling, and lovely to wrap with. This one was not particularly broken in, so that wasn't my experience with it. It wasn't rough, but it certainly wasn't soft or buttery (I've had wraps that were both!). It was a bit grippy actually, which might be the way the wrap is, or might be just a result of this particular one not being broken in.
The threads are white and a perfect vibrant turquoise, with the white being relatively prominent, giving it a bright pastel appearance overall. It wasn't too pastel for me, but it definitely reads as a light color, not a saturated color.
I am about nineteen weeks pregnant in these photos!
