Natibaby Old Rose Pancy Review

Natibaby Old Rose Pancy

This wrap is the brand Natibaby, or Nati.  The color is Old Rose, and the pattern or weave is Pancy.  The jaquard fabric is made from 70% cotton and 30% wool.

This the only wool wrap I've owned.  I am EXTREMELY sensitive to fabrics, and can't wear wool of any kind without feeling like I need to scratch my skin all over.  I can't wear cashmere.  I can't wear merino wool.  I can't wear polyester either.  I can immediately tell you if a garment has polyester or wool in it from the moment I slip it over my skin, because I get itchy.  I was really hoping I would not have this reaction to wool wraps, and perhaps there is one out there I won't react to, but this one didn't work for me.

Despite the fact that wool is generally associated with winter, I have heard from experienced baby wearers that wool wraps are warm in winter and cool in summer.  Somehow they wick moisture away from the body, and allow the body to breathe through the fabric.  I doubted their claims until I tried this wrap.  In comparison to the other purple Nati I posted about (Nati Old Rose Orchid), this wrap was significantly cooler in the muggy South Texas summer morning I tried it on.  Regardless, I could not wear this wrap outside in the Texas summer.  If it was a shorter length, I think it would work, but it's just too much fabric to wrap around the body in the summer (not that wearing a hot baby furnace attached to you can ever be "cool" in the summer).

This wrap is a size 7, which is very long for me.  An average size 7 wrap is 5.2 meters, and this measures a perfect 205 inches or 5.2 meters.  I wouldn't normally own a wrap this long, since you can see how long the tails hang down behind me.  I could wrap them up a different way, but that would add more layers to our carry, and we were already pretty warm.  The carry I am using in these photos is called a "double hammock."

I think the print on this is so pretty.  This wrap is thinner than Old Rose Orchid, and resultingly easier to wrap.  Still, since I'm pretty new at wrapping, it took me a while to get all the passes properly tightened, and I don't think I completely achieved it.

The sturdiness of the fabric lends itself well to good support.  It can carry a heavier baby or toddler without sagging, and is comfy on the shoulders without digging.  It would also make a gorgeous wrap conversion.  I was also surprised at how flat it laid when folded and how generally "unwrinkly" it was.  The rails (long edges of the fabric) don't bunch up, and the fabric has a smooth, almost silky feeling.  Again, not what I would expect for a wool blend, but very nice.

Here's more photos of us wearing it.

Here is a color comparison of the five purple wraps I bought to possibly wear at my sister Mercy's wedding.  I ended up using Oscha Roses Juliet.

Top Center: Natibaby Plum Dandelions, bamboo blend (the most purple)
Top Right: Natibaby Garnet Pois (the most red)
